The day before Sony Picture Home Entertainment releases “Open Season” in Blu-ray 3D, the studio has announced that “Open Season 3” will debut on Blu-ray Jan. 25 (not in 3D).
The 75-minute third episode in the Sony Pictures Animation animated comedy series that began as a story about a grizzly bear (Boog) wary of the imminent hunting season and his mule deer friend (Elliot), features the returning voice talents of Steve Schirripa (“Open Season 2,” “The Sopranos”) as Roberto, and Crispin Glover (Back to the Future franchise, “Open Season 2”) as Fifi. This time Boog tries to take the place of a circus bear but it’s up to Elliot, McSquizzy, and Mr. Weenie (voiced by the movie’s director, Cody Cameron) to rescue Boog before the circus heads back to Russia.
The Blu-ray, priced at $34.95, will be loaded with bonus features, including interactivities:
“Boog’s Cannon Blaster,”exclusive for Blu-ray: let’s you launch all your favorite Open Season characters out of a circus cannon to free Boog from his cage
“Rabbit Splat” Mode, exclusive for Blu-ray: use your remote to throw virtual rabbits at the screen while watching the movie.
“Runaway RV” game in which Mr. Weenie and the pet gang are out to save Boog from the circus and it’s up to you to help steer them to safety.
Progression Reel: shows a scene come to life from story sketch through final animation.
Other voice actors include Ciara Bravo (TV’s “Big Time Rush”), Dana Snyder (TV’s “Aqua Teen Hunger Force”) and Karley Scott Collins (TV’s “The Class”).
