Landau joins recently-announced keynote interviewee, filmmaker Paul W.S. Anderson, whose 3D movie “Resident Evil: Afterlife,” using the Fusion camera system developed by Cameron and Vince Pace, opens Sept. 10. Anderson is currently working on a 3D theatrical film version of “Buck Rogers.”
Joining Landau and Anderson as a keynote interview is Phil Eisler, general manager of 3D Vision for NVIDIA, the world’s largest graphics semi-conductor processor company.
3D Gaming Summit, along with the 3D Entertainment Summit series, are produced by Dowling and event management company Unicomm, LLC, and presented in association with Variety.
“In addition to (the groundbreaking) “Avatar,” Jon Landau was instrumental in working with Cameron and acclaimed game studio Ubisoft Montreal to usher in the first big console game in stereoscopic 3D on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 with ‘James Cameron’s Avatar: The Game’,” said veteran gaming industry journalist and co-founder and editor-in-chief of videogame syndication service Gamerlive.tv. Gaudiosi is senior content advisor to the 3D Gaming Summit.
“Today, we’re seeing key players in the industry, including Sony Computer Entertainment and NVIDIA, usher in new stereoscopic 3D games, in part, as a result of this groundbreaking work.”
The 3D Gaming Summit is a networking event that will also explore how video games aided by new technologies like stereoscopic 3D, are bridging the gap between interactive and linear entertainment. This first event will include keynotes, one-on-one interviews, panels, networking breaks, table top displays, private screening rooms and an evening special event and industry reception.
“There is no one better to talk about the seismic shift that 3D has brought to the entertainment sector than Jon Landau,” said Dowling, former editor-in-chief of The Hollywood Reporter. “ ‘Avatar’ has been the game-changer of all time, forever altering the way we perceive entertainment across all platforms.”
RealD is a premier sponsor of the 3D Gaming Summit. Official Sponsors are NVIDIA and MASTERIMAGE 3D. Panasonic, Mitsubishi, Sensio, Virtual Images, and Harkness Screens are event Sponsors.
