Top Gun 3D is complete and ready to go.
The conversion of the movie was done by Legend 3D, which also put up much of the cost to offset Paramount’s risk in exchange for some back-end return, as Legend3D’s Barry Sandrew said at a recent 3D Summit panel, after which he showed 10-minutes of the footage.
The New York Times reported yesterday that the film is complete and that Paramount and IMAX have been considering a release of the movie in February, though nothing is solidified as yet since original director Tony Scott died. Scott and Tom Cruise were reportedly working on a sequel to be directed by Scott, for which the 3D conversion of the original was supposed to have set the stage with a re-release in advance of the sequel.
None of the parties have confirmed or commented officially on any of this yet.
