After a brief exclusive stint packaged with Sony 3D TVs and Blu-ray players, the Blu-ray 3D edition of Disney’s “Alice in Wonderland” will be available for anyone to purchase beginning Tuesday, Dec. 7.
The Tim Burton movie starring Johnny Depp that generated the sixth biggest box-office receipts of all-time earlier this year, will be the top-grossing movie released on Blu-ray 3D thus far (“Avatar” is still bundled exclusively with Panasonic equipment for another year or so).
As it did with “A Christmas Carol” 3D last month, Disney is releasing “Alice” as a four-disc combo pack that includes the 3D disc, a standard 2D Blu-ray, a DVD, and a digital copy with an SRP of $49.99 ($56.99 in Canada).
Bonus features include the making of the Futterwacken Dance, a look inside the world of the Mad Hatter and Johnny Depp’s transformation, Tim Burton’s vision for the movie and its characters, the visual effects of growing and shrinking of Alice, costume designs, music, stunts, and interviews with co-stars Anne Hathaway and Helena Bonham Carter, and composer Danny Elfman.
