According to several published reports this past week, Venice, Ca.-based digital production studio Digital Domain is buying Westlake Village, Ca.-based 3D conversion house In-Three Inc. and moving it to Port St. Lucie, Fla.
The 11-year-old In-Three has worked on recent Disney films such as the upcoming “Tron: Legacy” and Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland” and “G-Force.”
Digital Domain, for which filmmaker Michael Bay is co-chairman, began building a production site in Port St. Lucie last year. The Orlando Sun Sentinel reports the move should bring about 70 jobs to the Sunshine State right away and that Digital Domain has agreed to hire 500 people at its facility by 2014 at an average salary of $65,000.
