The number of U.S. homes with at least one Blu-ray player has doubled in the past two years to 17% — nearly 20 million — in July, according to a report by research firm Centris.
By way of perspective, Netfliz has 15 million U.S. subscribers in June.
The research firm also noted that Blu-ray households rent and purchase more discs on a per-household basis than DVD households.
