Viewers of “The Office” will be able to watch new episodes this fall via the Blu-ray edition of Season Six being released Sept. 7.
Universal Studios Home Entertainment is using the BD-Live Web-connected feature of Blu-ray to allow fans to access new episodes immediately after they are broadcast without having to set a DVR or use a computer. The first episode of Season 7, the last with star Steve Carrell, premieres Sept. 23.
Up to five of the most recent episodes will be available in HiDef via the Season Six Blu-ray, featuring all 26 episodes and 2 1/2-hours of extras. Other bonus features on the set include a documentary-style look at the lives and loves of paper supplier Dunder Mifflin’s hilariously irreverent employees, the original digital short “The Podcast,” deleted scenes, bloopers, commentaries, behind-the-scenes interviews and two never-before-seen extended episodes.
