Cameron taking “Aliens” 3D?

As Ridley Scott prepares two 3D prequels to his original 1979 “Alien,” James Cameron is considering a 3D conversion for his 1986 sequel “Aliens.”

AliensPosterJust before participating with several scientists in a panel discussion at California Institute of Technology in Pasadena Tuesday night called “Is Pandora Possible?,” the director of “Avatar” told 3DHollywood.net that after he finishes converting “Titanic” to 3D, the next of his films he thinks would make good candidates for 3D on Blu-ray and potentially theatrical re-release are his first two “Terminator” movies, particularly “Terminator 2” (a 3D spin-off of which he already created in the 1990s for the Universal Studios theme parks in Florida and Hollywood — still one of the best examples of how immersive 3D can be).

Story continues below the following 70-second video highlight of 3DHollywood.net‘s blue-carpet interview with Cameron.

“Avatar,” even without 3D, broke all Blu-ray all-time sales records in less than a week of release. Asked if that meant anything in terms of what role 3D really played in the success of the theatrical release, Cameron said that while theatrical audiences really enjoyed the 3D, it’s rewarding to him to see that so many fans felt the story and characters are strong enough on their own to drive fans to buy the movie on Blu-ray and enjoy it repeatedly.

  1. Terminator 2 has to be done in 3D now T1 is just a bonus , also Aliens would be preety sweet .

The only problem with everythink is its going to take like four years until we see one of them considering titanic wont be out till 2012 i expect the later to appear at least 2 years later , well it’ll diffently help carry these films over to the next generation which i guess is a good thing i mean you dont see anybody young these days watching gone with the wind ??
