RealD nails 64% of 3D “Dragon”

The RealD 3D cinema platform accounted for more than 64% of all 3D showings in North America of DreamWorks’ “How to train Your Dragon,” or about $18.7 million, acccording to RealD.

The movie distributed by Paramount grossed $43.7 million opening weekend March 26-28.

With only a fraction of the number of screens, IMAX generated 11.5% of the overall gross with $5 million domestically and $6.2 million globally, according to Paul Dergarabedian’s Hollywood.com Box Office.

RealD set a company record earlier this month when its platform accounted for $60 million, or more than 50% of the $118 million opening weekend of Disney’s “Alice in Wonderland” across all projection platforms.
