Kong 3D ride at Universal

King Kong may have been chased away by a fire on the Unievrsal Studios lot a tear-and-a-half ago but he’s coming back this summer as mad as hell in 3D, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The new 2 1/2-minute segment during the backlot tram tour replaces the iconic 22-year-old mechanical Kong attraction and will take visitors wearing 3D glasses through a 200-foot-long soundstage in which they will be surrounded by a 40-foot tall and 180-foot-long curved screen featuring the Kong from Peter Jackson’s 2005 version of “King Kong” and other creatures from Skull Island, including a T-rex.
