ESPN 3D TV debut of Pirates 4 trailer

Disney synergy comes to 3D as ESPN 3D hosts the 3DTV world premiere of the 3D trailer for Walt Disney Pictures’ “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” (play it below in 2D) during the network’s first live NBA telecast at 7 p.m. (ET) this Friday, Dec. 17.
The game features the celebrated Miami Heat trio of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh taking on the New York Knicks and Amare Stoudemire at Madison Square Garden.
Interestingly, all this attention for the studio’s summer 2011 tentpole movie comes on the same day as Disney debuts its potentially biggest movie of the holidays, “Tron: Legacy” in 3D in theaters.
You may also see video of the crowd-pleasing first introduction of the movie in September 2009 with Johnny Depp at Disney’s D23 Expo.

Transformered into 3D July 1, 2011

After initially being reluctant to adopt the 3D format, director Michael Bay eventually embraced it for the shooting of “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” after James Cameron and Vince Pace showed him one of their cameras and offered some tips.
Although he only used the bulkier 3D camera rigs on about 60% of the shots that didn’t require lots of movement, he is converting the rest of the scenes from 2D to 3D in post-production so the entire movie will be in 3D when it is released July 1, 2011.
