Although there is still no launch date or distribution details, the new 3D channel to be introduced in 2011 by Discovery Communications with joint venture partners Sony Corp. and Imax Corp. continues to announce programming for the network.

The six newest additions today include three original series, all produced in “native” 3D:

  • “Bullproof”: Professional bull riding, produced by Wild Eyes Productions and Digital Revolution Studios.
  • “High Octane”: Motocross, jet skiing, rock-climbing, bungee jumping and other extreme action sports, produced by Electric Sky Productions.
  • “Making the Brand”: hour-long series exploring how products are made, produced by Electric Sky Productions.

The other three programs, announced today by Tom Cosgrove, president and CEO of the joint venture, are exclusive U.S. premieres of programs already shown elsewhere:

  • “Ghost Lab” (Discovery): A one-hour special from Everyday Paranormal investigators Brad and Barry Klinge who travel the U.S. gathering research about the supernatural producing years of programs in long-running series seen regularly on the Discovery Channel, produced by Paper Route Productions and Go Go Luckey Entertainment.
  • “Open Season” (Sony Pictures): The first feature-length animated film from Sony Pictures Animation, featuring Boog (Martin Lawrence), a happily domesticated grizzly bear, who has his perfect world turned upside down after he meets Elliot (Ashton Kutcher), a scrawny, fast-talking wild mule deer.
  • “Space Station” (IMAX): The first-ever 3D movie in space and one of IMAX’s most successful long-running movies, narrated by Tom Cruise.
