British Queen Elizabeth will make history when she appears in 3D for the first time to deliver her Christmas message this year, becoming the first Royal to do so after Prince William refused to allow 3D cameras to film his wedding last year.
The 86-year-old monarch, who made her first Christmas radio message in 1952 and her first live TV broadcast in 1957, was filmed at Buckingham Palace by BSkyB 3D cameras last Friday talking about the celebration of her Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics — where she appeared in the opening ceremony film alongside James Bond (not in 3D). The landmark broadcast will be available to the BBC and ITV.
