The world’s first royal wedding in both 3D and HiDef?
England’s Daily Mail reports that three broadcasters – Sky, the BBC and Virgin – are discussing the possibility of televising the April 29 wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton in 3D.
With a global pre-HiDef (and pre-satellite TV service and pre-Internet and pre-Smart phone) audience of nearly 1 billion viewers for the 1981 state wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer, carried by the BBC, and still-standing record of 2.5 billion people tuned in to the 1997 funeral of Princess Diana, expectations are high for the next royal ceremony at Westminster Abbey.
Sky, which has been aggressively producing 3D TV programming all year from sports to election debates, is considering broadcasting the signal to British cinemas and 3D TV-enabled homes.
