ESPN 3D will be coming to Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks cable systems as part of a wide-ranging long-term agreement announced today between Time Warner and Disney/ABC Television Group and ESPN.
Time Warner agreed to launch ESPN 3D along with the new Disney Junior channel coming in 2012 and renews carriage of many other networks such as ABC Family, Disney Channel, Disney XD, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNEWS, ESPNU, ESPN Classic, ESPN Deportes, and SOAPnet, as well as WABC in New York, KABC in Los Angeles, WTVD in Raleigh-Durham-Fayetteville, WTVG in Toledo, and associated HD cable networks.
The deal also includes delivery of digital video-on-demand and online services such as ESPN3.com.
Time Warner joins DirecTV, Comcast, and Verizon’s FiOS TV service in offering ESPN 3D to subscribers.
“We look forward to launching these new and innovative products and services,” said Glenn Britt, Time Warner Cable’s Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer.
In a joint statement, co-chairs of Disney Media Networks George Bodenheimer and Anne Sweeney said, “The successful conclusion of this wide-ranging deal demonstrates our commitment to our distribution partners and our ability to work with them to provide consumers with an unmatched portfolio of national and local entertainment, news and sports content while continuing to strengthen both of our businesses.”
