EchoStar’s international subsidiary launched digital premier pay-TV service DishHD in Taiwan, the company announced today (June 21).
The new DishHD, broadcast via the AsiaSat 4 satellite, offers Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound and more than 30 1080i HiDef channels from Asia and around the world, more than twice the number of HiDef channels than any other pay television service in Taiwan. Plans call for expanding to more than 50 by the end of the year.
The monthly promotional fee will be 1000NT per month ($32 U.S.), with satellite systems being sold in retail stores such as Costco in Taiwan.
