Scorsese’s 3D debut for kids

Following Steven Spielberg’s 3D trilogy adaptation of the 1920s French/Belgian children’s books series “Tintin,” Martin Scorsese has decided to pursue his first 3D production with a children’s story set in 1930s Paris, “The Invention of Hugo Cabret.”

The GK Films production of the movie based on Brian Selznick’s bestselling children’s book about a 12-year-old orphan who must solve the mystery of a broken robot, “Hugo Cabret,” will be distributed by Sony Dec. 9, 2011, also about the same time as the first chapter of “Tintin” will hit theaters.

Production begins on “Cabret” in London in June.
