“Dragon” still flying high at #1

“Dragon” still flying high at #1

DreamWorks’ “How to Train Your Dragon” is still nowhere close to flaming out, claiming a clear victory this weekend after more than a month in theaters.

The amazing phoenix-like resurgence of the five-week-old 3D movie that opened at #1 in late March began to be apparent last weekend when it nearly nosed out newcomer “Kick-Ass” for the top spot.

This weekend “Dragon” fired up another estimated $15 million on a decline of only 23%, according to Hollywood.com Box Office, while “Kick-Ass” descended in a nosedive to $10.7 mil.

The closest competition for “Dragon” this weekend was the new Jennifer Lopez comedy “The Back-Up Plan,” with $12.25 mil.

This is the 12th weekend out of 17 this year that a 3D movie topped the charts.
