3D nearly regained the top spot at the box-office just one week after being knocked off the perch.
And it happened in the most unlikely of ways, with the three-week-old kids movie “How to Train Your Dragon” bouncing back to within $200,000 of #1 newcomer “Kick-Ass” about a kid superhero,” and ahead of the previous week’s top movie “Date Night”, and ahead of the 3D movie that knocked “Dragon” out of the top spot two weeks ago, “Clash of the Titans.”
“Dragon” enjoyed a new breath of fire with $19.6 mil. the weekend of April 16-18, within tail-smacking distance of the $19.8 mil. of “Kick-Ass.” “Dragon” now stands at $158.2 mil.
With back-to-back 3D blockbusters “Avatar,” “Alice in Wonderland,” “How to Train Your Dragon” and “Clash of the Titans,” 3D movies have dominated most weekends at the box-office so far this year.
