Panasonic Corp. has become the official technology partner of the International 3D Society.
In an announcement this morning (Tuesday, Nov. 2) the Society also named Panasonic co-chair of its Worldwide Education committee.
The announcement means that Panasonic will provide 3D technology at instructional events produced by the International 3D Society in the USA, Europe, and Asia, such as the Society’s 3D University sessions for members, which has attracted over 700 professional participants in Los Angeles in its first nine weeks of the program. Through 3D University, the Society is establishing a curriculum of technical and creative coursework for video industry professionals in key production markets around the globe, as 3D technology is rapidly advancing.
The next 3D University class is Blu-ray Day on Saturday, Nov 6, followed by another course on Dec. 4 that is in association with the Producers Guild of America.
“Our primary mission is to provide education to 3D professionals. We thank Panasonic for their partnership which allows us to fulfill that commitment globally,” remarked Jim Chabin, President of the International 3D Society. Panasonic will provide technical support, demonstrations, and expertise in developing learning programs worldwide.
Professionals seeking to develop their 3D expertise will benefit not only from the presentations, but also from the opportunities to network with their peers and share the latest developments in the 3D ecosystem.
“As an innovator and leader in bringing 3D TV technologies to consumers and to the video production industry, Panasonic understands the value of education in cultivating a new generation of 3D professionals around the world,” said Yoshiyuki Miyabe, Executive Officer of Panasonic Corporation. “With this goal in mind, we welcome this opportunity to work with the International 3D Society as they provide educational seminars and demonstrations that will enable 3D professionals globally to gain new skills.”
Panasonic Corporation recently received the organization’s first Charles Wheatstone Award honoring its advocacy, technology and consumer engagement in the development of stereoscopic 3D products.
