The Walt Disney Studios finally confirmed today (Sept. 17) what we here at HollywoodInHiDef.com / 3DHollywood.net reported Sept. 1, that the studio will be releasing “Alice in Wonderland” on 3D Blu-ray through Sony Electronics and only with the purchase of Sony 3D TVs.
But the agreement between the two behemoths goes much deeper to include a collaboration in the United States that will provide both consumer and retail education, promotion and marketing support for in-home 3D devices and content through advertising and retail execution, as well as product bundling such as the Blu-ray 3D debut of Disney’s “Alice in Wonderland” and the Disney animated film “Bolt.”
The national campaign also incorporates 10 different Sony 3D Bravia HDTVs for which consumers may choose to have “Alice” or “Bolt” included.
“We are excited to partner with Sony on 3D offerings…,” said Lori MacPherson, General Manager of Home Entertainment for The Walt Disney Studios. “We recognize Sony is a leader in HD hardware and we know movie lovers will enjoy the immersive content that is a part of Disney’s 3D titles.”
The marketing campaign features multiple consumer incentives as well as a comprehensive television, on-line, social media and print campaign.
