NASA Television will add a full-time HiDef channel Monday (July19), delivering live coverage of the final two space shuttle launches and other spacecraft as well as the daily “ISS Update” of activities of the on-orbit International Space Station crews, the agency said today in a brief announcement.
Also available on the new channel will be video of the Earth shot by crews on the station and from NASA satellites, as well as NASA’s video file news feed, media conferences, lectures, satellite interviews and special events.
Although the MPEG-2 format channel may not be widely distributed initially, the HiDef video will be available for other media entities to access and use on their HiDef channels.
