Sales of 3D displays will top 6.2 million this year on the way to reaching 83 million homes by 2014, according to a forecast by industry market research group Displaybank.
This year alone the 6.2 mil. sales represent a 91% compound annual growth and 3% of the entire TV market. By 2014 the group predicts 3D will represent 31% of the TV market. At about the same point in 2014, glasses-free (autostereoscopic) 3D TV models are expected to be introduced, according to Sarah Han, senior analyst at Displaybank.
